High Chief Samuel Oni is a Chartered Accountant with a distinguished career that spanned over 35 years. He qualified as a Graduate Member of Association of Certified and Chartered Accountants (ACCA) (London, 1980) and holds a Master's in Business Administration (University of Ilorin). He worked as a Senior Accountant/Company Secretary in various establishments, including New Foods & Drinks Company (Kaduna, 1980), Abiola & Sons Bottling Company (Ilorin) and Kwara Breweries (Ijagbo-Offa) before joining Kwara State Agricultural Development Project (KWADP) as Financial Controller (1990) and then CBN as an Assistant Director (October 1993). At CBN, he became Director, Bank Examination Department (2003); Director, Other Financial Institutions and Internal Audit Departments (2005); Director, Banking Supervision Department (2009), playing a prominent role during CBN’s intervention to stabilise the banking system following 2008/2009 financial crisis, before retiring voluntarily (June 2011).He is a Fellow, ACCA London and Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria; Member, Institute of Taxation of Nigeria; Honorary Member, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria; Independent Non-Executive Director, United Bank for Africa and Abbey Mortgage Bank Plc and Chairman, Board of Directors, UBA Capital (Europe) Limited. During his career, he attended various training courses, workshops and seminars, locally and overseas.
